Rep. Tom Reynolds (R)
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 02:29 PM by rusty charly
Rep. Reynolds' NRCC received $100,000 from disgraced Rep. Foley in July, after he learned about Foley's inappropriate emails with minors

As reported yesterday, Reynolds declined to report the inappropriate emails to authorities or act on them -- now we may know why.

During the same period Rep. Tom Reynolds was keeping Mark Foley's inappropriate emails with minors secret, his campaign committee coffers received a $100,000 donation from Foley, it was revealed today. Reynolds has come under fire for knowing about the inappropriate emails for many months and covering it up to protect his colleague who has since been forced to resign.

3. Reynolds can't resign
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 03:04 PM by PATRICK
Per GOP majority-at-any-cost standards applied by Reynolds himself to Foley! He wanted a reluctant Foley to run anyway AFTER knowing about the scandal long ago. You certainly can define Reynolds position now as a "hotseat", one he fully merits for other issues. And backing out at this late date to against the popular Davis is even worse than Foley giving up his safe seat long ago.

I imagine the polls are in shock mode that will last in suspended meltdown until next month.

I find this irritating since I wanted to measure the 29th(Massa) election against our neighbor's and this totally scrambles things. I sort of figured the election results might have been similar, weighing in various factors. Well, that is out the window. Any chance Kuhl has his hands in this one too? Too bad. He would if he could, although his manic gun waving in the released divorced papers makes him look positively virile. Maybe he would use them again this year to that effect. LOL.

4. Reynolds is my representative
and I am dearly hoping he loses his seat. He is nothing more than a Bush yes-man. I really want him gone. A local poll in my district showed him ahead of Davis by only 2 points. Hopefully Davis can gain some ground now.

5. That poll...
was done while the Green candidate was still in the race and she got 8 percent.

6. The new poll ...
The same station ran another poll with the Green Party candidate removed. Tonite they are showing Davis with a 5 point lead over Reynolds. It would be great if it holds up.

8. Congrats
This is a well earned gift from the GOP. My guy Massa has to do it the hard way, but do it he will. This will be a truly great NY representation.

9. I just saw a Reynolds campaign ad
where the only thing he talks about is Foley.
He apologizes for not recognizing his lies sooner.

That is the first time I have ever seen a candidate apologize as part of their plan to get re-elected.
Put a fork in him he's done.

I pray Jack Davis continues to highlight what he plans do you for his constituents. If he can manage to not harp about Foley (let the media do that), the seat is his.

Cheers
Drifter

10. I don't think any of Reynold's ads have been effective...
There was one where he tried to convince people that protecting jobs (by demanding labor standards be included as part of trade agreements) was the same thing as raising taxes.

Not only was the connection pathetic and ineffective. It also gave people a reason to vote for Davis who may not have known that he wants to limit trade to protect local industry. A HUGE ISSUE around here and a VERY POPULAR position.

Now this ad which only keeps the story in the news. A story which makes Reynolds look like an asshole.
