NM GOP Govenor names former astronaut and climate change skeptic to charge Energy...

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Susana Martinez has selected former astronaut Harrison "Jack" Schmitt as secretary of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.

Martinez announced Thursday the former U.S. senator is being nominated to run the agency that oversees oil and natural gas production, manages state parks and and administers forestry, mining reclamation and renewable energy programs.

He will be paid $105,000.

In 1972, Schmitt was one of the last men to walk on the moon as part of the Apollo 17 mission Schmitt was elected to the Senate in 1976, but lost a re-election bid in 1982 to Democrat Jeff Bingaman.

Schmitt has a doctorate in geology from Harvard University.

Upon some background research (including youtube videos of his speeches) I've discovered Schmitt has doubted climate change to the point of publicly doubting IPPC findings. Mr. Schmitt is also on record for the USA to return to the moon and mine it for resources. Tin hats might recall Mr. Schmitt was onboard Apollo 17, which discovered little men on the moon.

In two days, the NM GOP Governor has dismantled the State's Environmental Improvement Board, suspended all pending environmental regulations (due them being bad for New Mexico businesses), and appointed a climate change skeptic in charge of the State Agency responsible for issuing mining, milling, logging, and other energy related leases and permits. Sad days ahead for the Land of Enchantment.

1. I voted against this woman...
I don't understand what people were thinking when putting a Republican in office.

2. She is charging full tilt like a doña Quijote

at the old-guard, demo establishment from Santa, 'burque, Rio Arriba, Espanola, Tierra Amarilla etc etc.

When they clash head-on, that is going to be entertaining. :-)
