My First Post
Hey, a new person from New Mexico here on this forum. Lets try and keep some of the excitement. New Mexicans did an historic thing on Nov. 4th. A total take over of the federal positions and all state wide positions with the exception of State Lands Commissioner. I am in NE New Mexico and did well here also, thou not as good as in other counties. CONGRATULATIONS NEW MEXICAN DEMOCRATS. Now lets keep em honest.

4. Tough Area
The SE part of New Mexico is tough for Democrats. Very tough. I looked at the numbers you posted and they are stark. But you did get Teague in, that is really quite an accomplishment. I lived in Otero County for 5 years and know the frustrations of being in a total Republican area. They do seem to have a death grip on the electorate. The "Little Texas" label is actually true. The political influence seems to come more from Texas than New Mexico.

6. I'm still in Otero County
And wish you hadn't left. We NEED more liberal voices here. The progressives of Otero have managed to reach out and find each other...somewhat. I know there are others out there who still feel alone. I've managed to provide a progressive point of view when I can-

3. Welcome, glad you're here . . .
I worked the polls on Election Day up here in Albuquerque. In my little precinct that I worked in, the votes were 181 McCain to 179 Obama. Thankfully though, over 75% of the voter roster had already either voted early, or did absentee balloting. There were just too many Obama signs in our neighborhood to go full-on McCain. I don't remember the other stats off the top of my head.

9. You got it
I posted for just a bit as "New Mexico" and then all of a sudden I could no longer log in. So I got a new user ID. Seems to have worked and looks like I can start a new thread now.
