Bush at NMSU: Las Cruces residents and NMSU students (FYI)
I just got this e-mail notice about Bush's visit to Cruces. As usual I think you have to be a registered republican to be able to get in to see him. Anyone planning to protest the visit might find the following information helpful. Here's the litany:

Plan ahead....getting to class may be a real problem tomorrow with Pres. Bush’s appearance at Pan Am at 9am.

President’s visit: Updated traffic and parking advisory

Some campus streets and parking lots will be closed Thursday morning
before and during President Bush’s 9 a.m. appearance at the Pan American Center.

University employees and students driving to work or class Thursday morning are advised to enter campus on the west side to avoid delays.

Spaces will be reserved in Lot 27 for people needing access to the Educational Services Center, where the Admissions Office, Financial Aid Office, Registrar’s Office and Graduate School offices are located. Lot 27, north of the Educational Services Center, is accessible from University Avenue.

Payne Street will be closed alongside the Pan Am Center and Aggie Memorial Stadium. Non-event traffic entering the campus at University and Triviz will be detoured around the dirt lots on the east side of campus to Wells Street south of the stadium.

Stewart Street will be closed from Locust Street to the dirt parking lots. Part of Lot 38 and all of Lot 33, between the Pan Am Center and the stadium will be closed. To accommodate students who are displaced by the lot closings, temporary parking will be allowed on the intramural field along Locust Street. The area will be marked.

Detour signs will be in place to guide traffic.

Doors to the Pan American Center will open at 6 a.m. Thursday. People attending the President’s speech are encouraged to arrive by 8 a.m. The speech is scheduled to begin at 9:05 a.m.
