Was Lakewood Hacked?

Lakewood NJ is mostly Jews and African Americans - How then does Bush win this town by 2/3rds margin?

1. I lived near there for years

There is a large Hasidic community in Lakewood; I remember one time in the 1980s, a Democratic candidate for state assembly got shut out -- no votes -- in the most Hasidic precinct. It looked damn weird in the report, but if it was ever investigated, it was very hush-hush. This doesn't explain the African-Americans and everybody else in that remarkably diverse town, but a high Bush turnout amongst the Jewish community wouldn't surprise me.

I'm going on memory. I still have family nearby and drive through a couple of times a year, but haven't followed Jersey politics for a long time.

On edit: not a lot of secular Jews that I recall, not sure of the % of African-Americans, considerable Hispanic population

2. The Hasidim are still there.
If anything, their community has grown.
