Union Leader Morans ... go figure! SLOP polling on front page!
http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showa.html?article=41649

Here's the Headline and slug from the "front page" on-line.

Survey finds noise pollution is annoying city residents
The Union Leader had readers rate the seriousness of street noise on a scale of one to 10 and also asked whether state or local government should be involved in a solution. People rated noise problems an average seriousness of 7.9.

Here's the article ... notice the *disclaimer* in paragraph three:

MANCHESTER — Maureen Stinchfield lives on Spruce Street, where she says she’s plagued by motorcycle noise as late as 3 a.m.

“At times, we have to stop our conversation because the noise is so loud; car alarms go off; forget hearing your television,” Stinchfield wrote. “I wear ear plugs, otherwise I would be woken up.”

Stinchfield is among about 70 who responded to a non-scientific survey yesterday by The Union Leader. It had readers rate the seriousness of street noise on a scale of one to 10 and also asked whether state or local government should be involved in a solution.

The result: Respondents are overwhelmingly angry, frustrated, unhappy and bothered by noise pollution. With a 10 the highest, people gave noise problems an average seriousness of 7.9.

A couple questions:

How many is "about 70"? Is it 67, 60, 45?
What percentage of Manchester's 110,000 residents does "about 70" represent?
Is this an example of the "junk science" the Unionleader itself often decries?
