MO's Roy Blunt named one of 13 most corrupt Congressmen
Not that this will surprise anyone ... especially since the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the case of our esteemed <cough, gag> governor "Skippy" Blunt.

• Rep. Roy Blunt: The report criticizes him for trying to insert provisions into bills that would have benefited, in one case, a client of his lobbyist son and in another case, the employer of his lobbyist girlfriend, now his wife.

1. Group labels Blunt corrupt
U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri's 7th District is being called one of the most corrupt members of Congress in a report released Monday.

The report criticized Blunt for what the group called the "misuse of his position for the benefit of his family."

A spokesman for Blunt called the report "part of a well-organized political strategy" to attack Republican lawmakers.

2. My oped on this...
In response to the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in
Washington's report identifying Blunt as corrupt, Blunt's spokesman
did a lot of attacking the source and very little explanation. When
Blunt's spokesman did address the issue he simply described one of
the provisions without mentioning the context that made it
unethical. Blunt's actions were wrong because the provision both
benefited a corporation that he had close personal and political
relationships with and because it was inserted secretly within hours
of the final vote.

Corporations didn't hire lobbyist Andy Blunt because of his good
looks or his nice car but because he has powerful family members at
the state (Matt Blunt) and federal (Roy Blunt) level. Having a
lobbyist that has powerful state and federal ears on speed dial is
like a corporate cookie with whipped topping. Do we really believe
corporations would spend that kind of money if they weren't getting
something out of it?

When I spoke out against Blunt's corruption in 2003 local
conservatives defended Blunt by using "Democrats-do-it-too morality"
to constrain accountability. Blunt of course should apologize or
resign but a good part of the responsibility lies squarely with his
most zealous enablers who are quite willing to surrender their own
moral values out of political loyalty.
