Frist and the Filibuster; DeLay ; Blunt's approval rating...
I am really concerned about this thing Sen. Frist is trying to do.
We cannot afford to let the filibuster be destroyed by this
man. We all need to stand up NOW and tell our senators that we
DO NOT support this course. You can do that (as I already
have) by calling Sens. Bond and Talent and letting them know
that as their constituent, you expect them to speak up against
this atrocious attack on our democracy!

Please call today:

Senator Christopher Bond
Phone: 202-224-5721
District Offices:
Cape Girardeau: 573-334-7044
Jefferson City: 573-634-2488
Kansas City: 816-471-7141
Springfield: 417-864-8258
St. Louis: 314-725-4484

Senator Jim Talent
Phone: 202-224-6154
District Offices:
Cape Girardeau: 573-651-0964
Jefferson City: 573-636-1070
Kansas City: 816-421-1639
Springfield: 417-831-2735
St. Louis: 314-432-5211

You can also sign up to receive a text message from MoveOn when
Frist does pull the nuclear trigger. They will send you a
message that Frist has indeed gone nuclear and the numbers for
our senators. The first few hours after Frist invokes this
option will be extremely important as our senators will be (or
should be) watching very closely for public opinion before they
vote. Sign up here:
http://www.moveonpac.org/call/?tg=FSMO_1,FSMO_2&cp_id=14&id=5527-5613255-lDzwlCe_mMxwY1aQdVIIQw Also, please let MoveOn know that you have taken part by going to the above link. This is an incredibly crucial time for Democrats. We have to stand together and oppose this blatant assault on our rights as the minority party.

Tom DeLay is still a bother and I got this information from
MoveOn PAC. Please take a moment to read this information and
then call on Rep. Roy Blunt to bring pressure on DeLay to step
down. The thing that will push Tom DeLay out of his leadership
role is a public outcry and pressure on the Republicans who
gave him that office. That's where you come in. In a few weeks,
we're going to organize events across the nation to deliver our
petition to fire Tom DeLay to the Republicans who still back
him, either Republicans in Congress or the local Republican
Party. Take a moment to sign it now — the more signatures we
can deliver Rep. Blunt, the more likely he is to think twice
about DeLay's leadership.

The tangled web of backslapping relationships between DeLay,
other Republicans, and lobbyists needs to be exposed to the
light. So we've taken the best information out there on the
connections between Republican members of Congress and Rep. Tom
DeLay and we're sending it to you as your own personal "Report
Card on Rep. Blunt".

Report Card
Rep. Roy Blunt's Connections to Tom DeLay

Accepted $1,019
from Tom DeLay's PAC

Donated $20,000
to DeLay's Legal Defense Fund

Voted 96.25%
of the time with DeLay
(2,336 of 2,427 votes)

So far, nearly 300,000 of us have signed a petition to Congress
urging them to fire Tom DeLay as Majority Leader. We want to
collect at least 500,000 petition signatures before the
beginning of June when Congress returns home for a week.

On the state front:
The legislative session ended officially on Friday. I am happy
to say that we had some victories, including anti-choice bills
that did not pass or were stalled. We also made a lot of noise
on the Medicaid cuts. While the cuts are severe, we attracted
a lot of attention and Gov. Blunt's rating is now the third
lowest of any governor in the U.S.-33%! First Steps was also
somewhat protected as the legislature refused to wipe the
program out.

From Fired Up!, we have some work to do to save Katy Trail:
Within the last few days, Governor Matt Blunt made a decision
that put the Katy Trail State Park in jeopardy. This park is a
Missouri treasure, enjoyed by thousands of Missourians each
year. You may have enjoyed the park firsthand. The Katy Trail
State Park was made possible by a very sophisticated legal
agreement that was reached many years ago. Governor Blunt's
recent decision threatens that legal underpinning and risks
plunging the state into a legal quagmire. Fired Up! started an
online petition to urge the Governor to reverse his terrible
decision. Please take a moment to go to
http://www.firedupmissouri.com/katytrailpetition to find out
more and to help save the Katy Trail State Park.

Then, please forward this on to at least ten of your
friends. It seems like the least we can do.

It is patently obvious that no one will stand up for our
concerns but us, so let's get to it!
