What the hell is Tim Penny doing??

"Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Comer of Jefferson, Tex., left, listens to former congressman Tim Penny, of Minn., and the Senior Fellow and Co-Director of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute Policy Forum, discuss how changes in the Social Security plan could help seniors and youthful contributors to the system, at Centenary College of Louisiana, Friday, March 11, 2005 in Shreveport, La. Bush is on a tour to sell the American public the agenda he laid out before Congress in his State of the Union address."

That's where the chimp was today. I had no idea Penny was a chimp supporter - I'm very disappointed in him.

1. Penny has been all over the board, and off it sometimes.
but he's not an idiot and he should know better than to lay down with the shrub.

3. This time he choose the wrong side
yes, SS needs to be tweaked sometime in the next couple of decades. Not this vauge and radical change that is being proposed.

2. Funny how * and friends are hyping up a deficit type failure in 40 years;
funner how the people who swallow their diarrhea merrily overlook the US federal deficit... $7.8 trillion by now, is it?

4. I used to think he had integrity. Now I think he has a screw loose.
Is he doing this for attention?

Not getting any press covergae lately or his picture in the newz paper?

Penny can go to hell.

5. This will help turn off many Independence Party
leaning Democrats/Greens. The GOP has cracked down on the base as we saw in 2002, and this is only alienating efforts for him to build a solid third party.

6. He's also been working for the Center of the American Experiment
i.e., the policy wing of the state GOP.

My family-farming in-laws were strong, early supporters of Penny in the 1980s. They held a couple rallies for him, and also helped on his many campaigns. Unfortunately, he's alienated most of those who sent him to Congress, and isn't winning many friends amongst the RWers either.

I think he's become a victim of his own success. Hanging out with DC insiders and right-wing policy bigwigs has changed him. Very sad.

7. I think he took a hard bump on the head.
Seriously, I don't know why but I think it's an ego thing. He hasn't gotten any attention since he helped Jesse with his transition into becoming a governor.
