Lots of Emmer signs between Twin Cities and Duluth this weekend ...
... but I did not see a single Dayton sign. The Emmer signs were typically very large, many 4x8'. This was in towns, back roads and along I-35.

Upon reflection, I am not sure I have seen a Dayton sign in the Twin Cities, either. I did see a guy in a supermarket parking lot in White Bear Lake putting a Dayton bumper sticker on his car (caught my attention since he was doing it in a supermarket lot).

1. There are always a ton of Republican signs along the I35 corridor.
I've seen a few Dayton signs around up north here. Emmer had a bunch of signs up in Duluth this summer but they all disappeared; I think he had them up too soon or something. They're back out now.

2. Dayton's signs just became available within the last couple
of weeks I've seen quite a few in Minneapolis - not many in St Paul.
The campaign seems to be putting little emphasis on them. I did see a couple on my son's street in Edina today.

3. Have you ever voted for someone based on the # of signs
you see along the road? I think the money can be better spent elsewhere.

4. I have seen Emmer signs all summer long along the 212 corridor
Most signs I see around are for Republicans. Not too many DFL signs this year.

7. I was in Eagan yesterday for the Medieval Fest
It's always a bit of a shock to see all the Repub signs.
Living in St. Paul I forget how "conservative" the suburbs are in comparison to the cities. (I use quote marks because the current GOP is many things but NOT conservative.)

8. Depends on the 'burb. My district in Eagan has a DFL state rep and state senator ...
... Kline represents Eagan in the U.S. House, but I am not sure if he took the Eagan districts in the last election (the 2nd covers a lot of suburban and rural area).

10. Signs mean nothing
Back in the early 1990s, a group of wackos known as the Oregon Citizens' Alliance managed to get an anti-gay initiative (Measure 9) on the ballot. As someone with thirty years of gay friends by that point, I was part of the local effort to lobby against it, but the town where I was living, a college town, was split 50/50, with the college people opposing and many of the townspeople for it. (I stopped patronizing my favorite coffee shop when I found out that the owner was a local organizer of the pro-9 forces.)

The weekend before the election, I drove the 40 miles into Portland and was appalled to see all the Yes on 9 signs. They practically lined the highway on the rural stretches of the route.

But the actual election results were different. Since the "anti" vote in Portland and the college towns was more motivated than the "pro" vote in the rural areas, the No on 9 forces won.

12. There are lots of Dayton signs in the city
I've spent most of my summer in greater Minnesota. Driving back home through the Delano area was disgusting. I passed tons of Emmer signs, three hours worth of freakin' Emmer signs. Lots of Bachmann's too. Then I finally arrived home to my beautiful city, where there are at least 2 Dayton signs for every Emmer I saw.
