Bachmann asks Pawlenty to expand probe of ACORN
http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/house/63632072.html

ST. PAUL, Minn. - U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann is asking Gov. Tim Pawlenty to name a special investigator to probe ACORN in Minnesota.

Bachmann says the step would ensure proper use of public funds by the activist group and its affiliates. The two-term Republican member of Congress is a longtime critic of ACORN.

Pawlenty spokesman Brian McClung says the GOP governor has already directed his administration to review ACORN's use of state money.

Pawlenty moved last month to block ACORN's state funding, even though the group doesn't have any current state contracts. ACORN got $109,000 from the Minnesota government agencies from 1996 to 2008, with the most recent grant of $7,500 for foreclosure prevention work coming in 2008.

Local Republicans really have nothing to stand on. It is just this endless futile quest to try to feel like they got something out of the 2008 election. I feel sorry for everyone in the 6th who has to put up with this and are for all practical purposes unrepresented right now on the local level.

1. Yeah, like the state can afford to investigate a non-issue
Though I suppose Pawlenty will be happy to spend the money if he thinks he make points with the nut case wing of the Republican party.

4. I propose a new title for Michele Bachmann
From here on, we should refer to Michele Bachmann as Misrepresentative Michele Bachmann, R-Crazy.
