1. Good Civil Rights platform but not the boiler plate immigration and tax cuts stances
There seems to be a major disconnect between the two. Equality for some, but not all.

2. Exactly.
Did you see Avidor's post about the tax rally? Listen to this woman. She sounds like a creep.

3. I just saw it, she sure does sound scary. She is trying to represent
many poor neighborhoods in the 5th CD. It sounds like she wants to be elected to keep those neighborhoods down.

5. I would guess she would
White is an ordained minister, so that's right up Batshit Crazy's alley.

6. Not all ministers are nuts but those two probably see eye to eye

7. True, that.
I did paint her with a broad brush. I should have said something like: "She's a crazy right-wing Christian minister."

8. Love the picture of her with Normie Coleman
I see in her biography that she is also an "Author & Playwright"
Listed among her credits:
Jesus is the Best Thing
The Prodigal Son – Centered on the lives of black men in the ghetto.
Twelve Men – A play depicting musings of the disciples on Christ’s

I also see that she doesn't tell us what denomination she is ordained in.

And, is my tinfoil too tight that I find it convenient that they endorsed a Christian minister whose last name is White (yes, I know she is black) to run against Ellison who is not only Black but <gasp> a Muslim. Are they really putting that much faith in the bigotry and stupidity of the voters? Are they hoping for "Who's on First" like confusion? ie "Ellison's opponent is White.", "No, she's Black." "I'm sure I heard he's running against a White minister"

9. That's kind of what I was thinking.
I just didn't really know if I should post it.

Now, these may be complete coincidences, but it strikes as odd:

Last time, the MnGooP ran a Jewish guy (Alan Fine) against Ellison.
This time, they're running an ordained Christian minister who is also African American against him.

Curious?

10. The GOP probably market researched the district demographics
They know they cannot run some rich, suburb transplant in the 5th. They need someone who appears to fit in with the area.

11. She doesn't even live in the 5th District
Her home is in Greenfield which is 10 miles into the 3rd. Plus she's filed no FEC report as of yet. I'm guessing her fundraising is pretty awful. Ellison wins 65% + this November.

15. I live in the 5th.
Just about every time Ellison speaks, I nod my head in agreement with him.

The last politician I could say that about was Paul Wellstone. I'm very proud to be represented by Keith.

14. I like this picture...
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 10:51 AM by jasonc

The caption reads:

"Barb Davis White’s opponent, Keith Ellison, being sworn in by Speaker Nancy Pelosi on a two-volume edition of the Quran which was once owned by Thomas Jefferson (Michaela McNichol, Library of Congress)."

Apparently she forgot the lesson learned by Virgil Goode of Virginia.

16. Considering that Ellison won over
not only the Jewish Republican guy and Tammy "Look, I'm not a Republican and I'm white" Lee, I'm not too worried.

17. "We took them out on the Barbary Coast and we're gonna take them out now."
Barbara Davis White makes that statement at the end of her bit about how she is going to beat Keith Ellison in the coming election. This video is currently on the main page of her website. http://www.barbdaviswhiteforcongress.com">(www.barbdaviswhiteforcongress.com)

First of all, what does that even mean? Is she trying to insinuate that Keith Ellison is a Berber? Is she accusing him of being a pirate? Surely it couldn't be that he is an African-American and that is why she will beat him? Is it that Barbary Coast is code for Muslim with this woman?

I genuinely do not understand what she was going for with such a statement, but it sounded like some sort of ideology of bigotry to me.

18. More Barb White video and another bizarre GOP Candidate
"Barb is the Marines landing on beach in the 5th District...."

Here's another GOP candidate in Minneapolis:

http://www.FelixForHouse.com

Click on his biography:

"The apple does sometimes fall far from the tree. My flaws are numerous; I am not a good man, nor even a wise man. If I claimed either of those two qualities I would be lying. There is nothing special about me, nothing that would make me a better State Representative than any other resident in Northeast Minneapolis. I am not a career politician; I do not have a political science degree nor a jurist doctorate. In fact I am not litigiously minded at all. I do not want to author new bills or bring about sweeping reform.
