G4G Talking Points for 09-07
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 (61 Days until Victory 2006)

Jobs Today, Jobs Tomorrow: Governor Granholm announced 61 job creation projects that will receive money from her 21st Century Jobs Fund. The funding will help diversify Michigans economy by spurring growth and new jobs in emerging industries like life sciences, alternative energy and homeland security.

The Most Aggressive Economic Plan in the Country: The jobs funding announced yesterday is just the first $100 million of $2 billion that will be invested to create jobs and diversify our economy. And, it is only one part of the Governors comprehensive plan to get Michigans economy back on track.

Another Negative Attack: Dick DeVos released another scurrilous negative attack on Governor Granholm yesterday. What DeVos is not telling us about is his support for the people and the policies that have ravaged Michigans economy and have hurt our people in the process. Headlines from Around the State

The Detroit News: State's $100M pumps up tech
The Jobs Fund is a centerpiece of Gov. Jennifer Granholm's economic plan for Michigan. The governor called the fund the "largest investment by any state in the nation in diversifying the state's economy," and praised the jobs that the funded initiatives would create. Early estimates peg the number of jobs that will be created from the first round of awards at about 3,000. The biggest award, for nearly $6.3 million, went to Adaptive Materials Inc. in Ann Arbor. The 6-year-old company is developing portable power systems for the government, but wants to sell them to the private sector. "Now we can take this technology that we've bootstrapped and grown with the military to commercial applications," said Aaron Crumm, Adaptive Materials' president and founder.

Kalamazoo Gazette Letter: Granholm is doing a great job
Every time you turn on the TV you see Dick DeVos slinging mud at our governor. It must be wonderful to have money to waste like that. Jennifer Granholm is doing a great job, considering the mess she was left with.

Lansing State Journal Letter: State not for sale
Dick DeVos and his Rove/DeLay collaborative bought the Republican primary using these same tactics, and are now attempting to buy the governorship. To them, the truth is just something to be molded and manipulated so they can win. Join me in voting for Gov. Jennifer Granholm. Tell the DeVos crowd that Michigan is not for sale.
