Being a proud mom could cost Angela Daniels up to $500 and/or 90 days in jail
Mt. Morris residents are told their athletic boosters signs are in violation of the city's sign ordinance, they must be taken down

MT. MORRIS, Michigan Being a proud mom could cost Angela Daniels up to $500 and/or 90 days in jail.

Daniels thought she was just supporting her son, Jose Saldana, a defensive middle linebacker for the Mt. Morris varsity football team, when she bought a $10 lawn sign from the school athletic boosters and posted it in her front yard.

Turns out Daniels violated the citys sign ordinance.

She received a notice on Oct. 14 saying she had five days to remove the sign from her front yard.

Im upset about it, said Daniels, vice president of the Mt. Morris Athletic Boosters. Youre supporting your hometown football team. Im supporting my son, not to mention Mt. Morris athletics.

The citys crackdown has outraged Daniels and other residents who plan to attend Mondays City Council meeting and have formed a Facebook group page to encourage others to attend.

1. That's just total bullshit
Is she the ONLY homeowner who put out a sign?

And WTF is such a big deal that supporting your kid's activities and achievements is going to degrade the neighborhood.

Sounds like a bunch of tightasses in Mt. Morris.

3. Sounds like a purely local issue to me: if Mt Morris folk want a municipal sign ordinance,
they have one; if they don't want one, they can repeal it

Really slick trick by the Boosters to sell folk signs they couldn't display: there might could be a interesting game there: maybe somebody who wants to overturn the sign ordinance so s/he can sell signs?

Anyway, I sorta expect the folk in Mt Morris can hash this out without my two cents

4. Couldn't find the city ordinance they use. Of course they wouldn't have it posted online.
They should review the code in question and determine the loopholes they can use.

Put a flagpole up and fly a banner that says the Mayor Sucks?

Have bumper stickers on cars saying the Mayor Sucks?
