1. Thanks -- that was fun to watch
I never knew there were actually words to the fanfare music before "The Victors" when the band comes on the field. We watched a special on HBO last night about the rivalry. It was very well done.

I'll be there tomorrow -- all bundled up!

:hi:

2. Im getting the hell outta Dodge
LOL!

Even on a normal football Saturday I either bail outta town or hibernate in my house all day...

:hide:

It's scary out there! And God Forbid you need to run normal Saturday errands and forgot there was a game, you can get trapped in the ultimate hell! Several years ago I was with a friend who was working on S Main just a couple blocks north of the big house. We were hanging out in her office for about a half hour on our way to another event, and we tried to leave right when the game got out. OOOPS! We were trapped for almost an hour! We hadn't even thought about the fact that there was a game (to our credit, it was the first home game of the season).

Don't get me wrong, I may be a townie but I'm not completely anti-football or anti-U of M ;) but believe me I will never make that mistake again!

Yeah, I am heading on a road trip at 6am tomorrow, so you won't hear me yelling "I HATE FOOTBALL" out my car window when I get stuck at some intersection cuz an out-of-towner is going the wrong way on a one-way street or something.

Seriously though, the town wouldn't be what it is without the U, and football Saturdays (and the Art Fair - that's even worse- it's 4 straight days of it!) come with the territory. I hope no one takes my little rant the wrong way, I really do have a sense of humor about it :)

And an ingrained sense of loyalty to U of M.

M GO BLUE!

3. Hey, Megan
Long time no see!

:hi:

I'm sure it must get old after a while when you live there, especially if you don't go to the games.

4. I must know about a hundred alternate routes by now
Through neighborhoods. A few years ago I was driving my father, sister, and brother to a game and zigzagging through neighborhoods to park at a co-worker's house on State Street. When we got there my father said "You should get a job driving spies around so they can't say where they've been."

Go Blue!

6. It boggles my mind
how so few people have discovered all the easy 'short-cuts' during games. Most of the city (at least near downtown and north of the stadium) is just a simple, predictable grid. But hell, if they want to stay backed up on Main St and Stadium for miles, so much the better - that way if I do have to go out anytime during the beginning or end of the game I can still manage to sneak by!

5. Hey Sharon!
:hi:

I haven't been hanging around DU much the last couple years, my politics don't really fit in and this whole 2-year-primary thing is too much for me (!), but I check the Michigan forum at least once a week just to see what's going on around the state.

I still remember the DU meetups I attended very fondly though. Some great people around here :)
