I had two successful days of leafleting! 250 copies distributed
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 12:25 AM by IanDB1
On Wednesday I distributed fifty double-sided colored fliers outlining Bush's Katrina failure, and urging calls for his impeachment.

Since it was raining, it wouldn't have made much sense to leave them on windshields.

So, this was my placement strategy:

1) Get a big stack of Boston Metro newspapers out of the machine.

2) Place fliers inside copies of The Metro.

3) Put most of the papers back inside the machine.

4) Take a few away with me.

5) Leave copies of The Metro (with my flier inside) on bus stop benches and in laundromats.

When I happened to come across cars with Democrat bumper-stickers, I took a chance with the rain and left fliers on their windshields. I also left about ten fliers on windshields of cars parked where I knew the owners were likely to return before it started raining-- for example, in the McDonald's parking lot, convenience store, etc.

On Friday, I similarly distributed 200 single-sided black/white copies.

Almost every copy of The Metro at one of Brockton's busiest train stations got a copy of the flier stuck in it.

I also left copies (again) at bus stops and laundromats.

A couple times I ran into groups of High School kids and handed them the fliers directly. I also used the opportunity to tell them that The No Child Left Behind Act requires schools to share their information with military recruiters unless they opt-out.

In any case, I can be reasonably sure that the fliers were staying dry and being read.

Some of the fliers I had left on Thursday were still there on Friday. Nobody had taken them and thrown them away.

In fact, on one flier, someone had actually duplicated the headline in pen-- "It Did Not Have To Happen."

I guess someone read the flier, saw the line, "It Did Not Have To Happen," and were so fixated on it that they felt compelled to write that phrase themselves. And then they put it back on the table where they had found it.

If you're interested in having copies of the fliers for yourself, please message me directly.

1. Right on!
Inserting flyers into the Metro is a variation on lala_rawraw's "Paper Chase" idea.

:yourock:

Thanks for your activism.
