Why does the Boston Globe mention what the sunbathing guy is reading?

"Tom Kelly of Belmont read ‘‘American Soldier’’ by General Tommy Franks and Malcolm McConnell while resting on the Charles River in Brighton yesterday. (Globe Staff Photo / John Bohn)"

First of all, the story is about lightning strikes in the Boston area. Secondly, would the Globe mention he was reading "Against All Enemies" by Richard Clarke or "Intelligence Matters" by Bob Graham? I think not. :eyes:

3. Why isn't Tom Kelley in Iraq?
I am sure he could sunbathe just as easily over there. Instead of reading about war, maybe go "Support Our Troops."

5. Thank you for noticing!
I thought I was the only one who has noticed the Globe turning to the right lately, especially with their reporters covering particular stories.

7. Is the Globe a particularly conservative newspaper?
I would like to know what kind of news I will be getting when my dream comes true and I live in New England.

I would hate to think a positive move from Louisville to New England would be accompanied by a negative move from the semi- liberal Courier- Journal to a conservative newspaper... but I think I would get over it.

8. The Boston Globe is a sock-puppet of the NYT.
Don't waste your time.

9. The Globe has moved to the right lately, but it's still more liberal than
most newspapers.
