Attend party caucuses 1/29 +/-
Go to http://www.massdems.org/convention05/caucuslocations.htm to find your town/ward's caucus date, time and location.

Note: you must have been registered as a democrat as of 12/31 in order to vote, but if not, you can still attend the caucus.

I encourage all progressives to run to be a deleate to the platform convention.

See you in Lowell in May!

1. Mass Democratic Party sucks ... at least in my town !!
what the hell is wrong with this Party ???

thanks for posting this ... if you hadn't, i would not have attended the Caucus this Saturday ... why ??? because i wouldn't have known about it ...

last year, i switched my enrollment from "Unenrolled" to "Democrat" to work for Kerry ... well, actually to work to get rid of bush ... the caucus last year had 35 people ... all the "regulars" were thrilled with the turnout ... just pathetic ...

they say nothing ... they see nothing ... they do nothing ... no wonder we can't elect a Democratic governor ...

this year, i'm going to try to become a platform delegate ... i'm affiliated with Progressive Dems of Mass (no relationship to PDA ... isn't that weird?) ... just sent an email to try to get our entire local delegation to attend ...

they are going to hate me ... i intend to highlight the fact that they have done absolutely nothing to build the party ... we need to get a "contact network" established for every Democrat in town ... every town needs to do this ... we should have everyone's email ... we should have block captains ... when it's time to "do business", we should be ready to go with a well organized communication network ...

what kind of party are we if we can't get our guys on the field for the big game ???

2. You have stated something I've noticed on my town committee
I'm a newbie along with about 5 others that got on last year.

Im noticing that the "entrenched" powers are clueless when it comes to the internet. The old way is fine with them.

What's fine about not having a Democratic Gov in this state for the past 16 years???

My recommendation to any "entrenched" power - if you are reading this you probably know how to navigate the web- so take it upon yourself to get someone else connected to sites like DU

You have 3 choices: lead, follow, or get out of the way

Too many people are highly motivated to get rid of the repug agenda who are connected to the web and each other and eager to do grassroots work to continue to do things the "old way"

3. My town is not even listed!
I'm going to the Dem Town Committee meeting tomorrow night; I'll have to ask about that.

4. Hey, where's my town?
Haverhill's not on the list. Where would a resident of said town go?

5. City and Town Committees

If your caucus isn't listed go to
http://www.massdems.org/getlocal/chairslist.cfm Call your ward/committee chair

In most cities they caucus by ward but some cities/towns (mine included)caucus all on the same day. The state conventions can be interesting if you are interested in kinda dorky wonkish grassroots stuff like I am.

I've been involved with my committee for about a year and a half, sometimes it's frustrating because like many massachusetts institutions, it is pretty parochial, a lot of these folks have been there for years, we always elect dems in elections except the damn corner office and there is a lack of internet strategy to get younger folks involved.

Get involved, volunteer to set up a web page, bring your friends, it's a great way to meet folks and with an active DNC hopefully they will remember the bricks of the party are not just the big corporations.

6. yahooooo ... i'm a delegate !!!
i just got elected, along with Mrs. wt2, to my town's Democratic Town Committee and also as a delegate to the convention ... that's the good news ...

they informed me that the platform is pretty much a done deal and that delegates would have little if any chance to have input to it ... nice open process, eh ??

but, it's a start ...

7. Let's meet at the state convention
We should all try to get elected as delegates and have our own progressive caucus before the vote at the convention. Maybe we can "rock the platform" if we can decide beforehand which few issues we all want to take a stands on. Democracy for America is encouraging all members to run as delegates so we might be able to coordinate with them and other progressive groups. Even if we don't win all the votes, we let the party regulars know that we are there and we are organized.
