Thanks be to the way-too-few, brave voices of those in Congress who persist in calling out the insanity of funding the carnage in Afghanistan, but not our own needs at home. On a call with bloggers, Reps. Jim McGovern (D-MA) and Maine's own Chellie Pingree cited the surreal discrepancies of spending $7 billion a month in Afghanistan, but turning down money to create jobs or extend unemployment benefits.

"We're going bankrupt, we can't extend unemployment insurance, but when it comes to Karzai, we're a bottomless pit." - McGovern
