Child Sexual slavery ring has Brockton ties
Sex ring has Brockton ties

By Maureen Boyle, Enterprise staff writer

One of the suspects indicted this week in a sex trafficking ring that used teenaged girls was accused three years ago of forcing a 19-year-old Taunton woman into prostitution.

Eddie “Young Indian” Jones, 24, one of six men accused in a federal indictment of running a Boston-based ring, was accused in 2004 of abducting the woman in Brockton then forcing her into prostitution in Boston for several days.

The woman was able to flee when the suspects fell asleep, giving her enough time to slip out of the Brockton apartment they held her in and get help, Lt. John Crowley, chief of detectives, said.

Jones and another man were later arrested and charged with kidnap, rape and getting support from the earnings of a prostitute.

Jones of Roxbury was arrested again Thursday at 96 Highland St., Brockton, by federal agents, with the assistance of Brockton detectives, on a string of charges, including sex trafficking of children, transporting minors for the purpose of prostitution and conspiracy.

1. If you were to ask me to guess what town in Massachusetts would, I'd say Brockton
I'd also guess where the Simpsons got the idea for the town of "Crackton" in that episode where it's a busstop.

2. And Arlington had a case of people held as slaves not long ago

And yet it is held up as a 'high-class' town. No locality is without criminals and bad people.

I love Arlington, I generally like it better than Brockton but I'm rather sick of Brockton being the recipient of such prejudiced. I remember being turned out of stores just because the storekeeper heard us say we were from Brockton. And just a few years ago my mother was refused service by a business that should have delivered to her perfectly safe and quiet suburban neighborhood just because it was in Brockton. I remember not being able to use a check to pay for something because my address was in Brockton. But there is also many positives about Brockton, I would not be where I am without the opportunities I was afforded in the Brockton school system.

Brockton is a fair sized city facing where many people are facing financial and social hardships. Where some industries and business have been allowed to get away with poor practices. There are indeed problems and challenges for the community but to blightly assume no surprise that this heinous crime would happen in Brockton and assume it's just a cracktown is offensive to the many good people of Brockton.

3. 3 years ago? What???

This man abducted a woman, forced her into prostitution (rape),
and was at it again 3 years later? Great legal system we have.
