DailyKos: Hoyer trashes Colbert, Kos trashes Hoyer
For those of you who don't read/haven't checked yet DailyKos, there's a post about my rep Steny Hoyer attacking Stephen Colbert for his statements at the White House Press dinner. Kos goes on to call Hoyer a Lieberman-style Republican posing as a Democrat and suggests that we should find a replacement for him.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/5/2/23293/39735

I personally thought Colbert was hilarious. I'm still shocked they let him get away with some of that.

1. A couple things:
Edited on Wed May-03-06 09:14 AM by reichstag911
1) Your shock that they let Colbert "get away with" criticizing our Dear Leader says a lot about why he must go; and 2) if Hoyer's your rep, what's your ZIP (or one close to it)? I want to send an email to that gutless DINO, but his page is only set up to accept email from constituents ( http://www.hoyer.house.gov/contact/email.asp ). Let's deluge the DINO douchebag with disparaging diatribes!

PS Consider reposting in GD/Politics for wider readership.

On edit: Forget the PS; it's already in LBN at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2260216

9. Well, that would certainly make up my mind about Hoyer.
Do you have any more information or sources about that you can share?

10. Steny is my rep, too! It's sad but true...
I'm so sick of these Bush ass-kissing, milquetoast DemoCraps! Too bad Steny is in a relatively safe district. People don't really know much about his pro-Bush stance. If the young people from College Park, Greenbelt, Laurel, Hyattsville, etc. knew the real deal, they'd stop voting for him and support a real progressive. He and Mikulski need to go!

11. Mikulski?
She is one of most progressive Dems in the Senate.

12. Bullocks! She voted for the war and against a timetable/withdrawal...
She didn't stand with Boxer against voter fraud. She supported Alito and other neocons. There are a host of other key votes that went against progresive-minded ideology. I used to think she was more progressive but she's not. It's a sham...

13. I think
you are wrong on some of these votes. Her ideological rankings are always among the most liberal in the Senate.

14. Yes, but that doesn't say much when you look at the Senate as a whole...
...the Senate isn't necessarily a bastion of liberalism these days. So sure, she'll rank among the most liberal because there are maybe 3 or 4 self-professed libbies left. I'm looking for her votes, though. I know that there were several times where she disappointed me with a crucial vote she cast. Let me do some research and I'll get back...

There is a Green in the general election. http://www.stevenwarner2006.com/
I talked to him and he seems like a good guy, I am trying to get him to press Hoyer on the Paper Ballots issue.
