I am now officially a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Maine. I’m excited about this campaign, and hope you’re going to be a part of it. The only way we’re going to win is with your support.

Maine faces significant economic challenges to be sure. While the challenges are great, the opportunities are even greater. Working together, we can unleash the potential of our great state.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be rolling out an expansive grassroots campaign to bring our message to every community in Maine – a message about building a pathway to prosperity for every Maine family. Together, we can build a Maine with vibrant communities and healthy families; a Maine where every person has the opportunity to succeed; where every child receives a world class education and where young graduates do not have to look outside the state to find promising careers. Together, we can build a Maine where our homes, schools and businesses are powered by renewable energy, and where health care and energy costs are brought under control so our economy can thrive.

Mainers stood with me when I took on pharmaceutical companies to lower prescription drug prices, when I forced polluters to clean up our environment and when I stood up to predatory lenders on behalf of home and business owners. Standing together, we won these fights. Now, I am asking you to stand with me again. I am asking you to join my campaign for Governor.

This is a campaign we need to win –and it’s a campaign we will win by working together.
