FCC hearing in Portland
Localism in Media:
Your Chance to Tell the FCC What You Think!

Do you think the media could do a better job covering your community and the issues you care about? Do you want more quality journalism? Are you hearing diverse and independent viewpoints on local television and radio stations?

Here's your chance to speak your mind.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is holding an official public hearing on localism and the media on Thursday, June 28 from 4:00-11:00pm at the Portland High School auditorium in Portland, Maine. (click for directions)

Don't miss this opportunity to make your voice heard! Register today to attend.

Want to attend, but not sure what to say? No problem! Common Cause and the Maine Media & Democracy Coalition are holding training workshops to answer your questions about localism and media ownership issues, and to help you prepare to testify at the hearing. The workshops will take place at the Community Television Network studio (516 Congress Street in Portland) on:

Tuesday, June 26, from 5:30 to 7:00pm, and
Wednesday, June 27 from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

Register today to attend (registration is appreciated, but not required).
