Important notice from Kansas Progressive Caucus meeting 3/3/07 in Topeka (Wash. Days)
Edited on Sat Feb-17-07 12:37 AM by Mabus
Here's an e-mail I received earlier this evening. The progressive caucus will be meeting during Washington Days on March 3rd. If you can, this is something you should consider attending. Hope to see some of you there. :hi:

Greetings from the Kansas Progressive Caucus!

We're sending this email out to let you all know that our annual meeting at Washington Days is coming up on March 3rd at 8:30am at the Ramada Inn in Topeka 420 E 6th Street, Topeka, KS 66607, (785) 233-0460

We're getting together to vote on changes to our Bylaws, and elect new leadership for the upcoming year. We want to encourage everyone to come to the meeting and be a part of the Kansas Progressive Caucus.

Our Rules Committee has made substantive changes to our existing Bylaws, and we hope to ratify those changes and make them permanent. The current draft of these changes can be viewed online at www.kansasprogressives.org/?q=bylaws. You are encouraged to look these over and send any comments or suggestions to kansasprogressives@kansasprogressives.org .

We need nominations for the officers of the KPC for the 2007-2008 year. Effective leaders can turn the progressive vision into reality for all Kansans.

Please look over these candidate descriptions and send us your nominations for each office.

By all means, consider nominating yourself!

Following are the offices to be filled:

Co-Chairs: The Co-chairs (one male, one female) convene and preside over meetings of the board and membership, serve as liaisons to the state and national party, and are the primary spokespeople for the caucus.

Additionally, people who are able to regularly attend both caucus and party meetings and functions, have a big-picture focus, are organized, and who are good speakers should think of running for this office. Experience or knowledge of process and procedures of the Democratic Party is helpful but not necessary.

Treasurer: The Treasurer manages the banking and financial transactions of the caucus and PAC, including collecting dues, making disbursements, transactions and serves on the Finance committee.

People who are detail oriented, timely and able to regularly attend caucus meetings should think of running for this office. Experience or knowledge of PACs (Political Action Committees), finance, bookkeeping, and database entry is helpful but not necessary.

Secretary: The Secretary records, distributes, and maintains the minutes of board and membership meetings and serves on the Communications committee. People who are able to regularly attend caucus meetings, are good at recording the substance of conversations, and at word processing should think of running for this office. Experience with Robert Rules, meeting minutes and other communications skills are helpful but not necessary.

Membership Committee Chair: The Membership Chair facilitates membership growth and involvement, coordinates welcoming and supporting members, maintains the membership database (or finds someone who can!) and sends membership information to the Kansas Democratic Party annually. Outgoing, positive people people who enjoy helping others get involved and organizing events should think of running for this office Experience or knowledge of managing people and coordinating committees is helpful but not necessary.

Rules Committee Chair: The Rules Chair coordinates any necessary reviews of bylaws. Presides over elections and helps resolve procedural questions. People who are interested on effective meeting process and procedures should think of running for this office. Experience or knowledge of PACs, Robert Rules of order and organizational bylaws are helpful but not necessary.

Finance Committee Chair: The Finance Committee Chair Coordinates events, mailings and other fundraising activities for the caucus and its political action committee. People who are comfortable with many types of people and enjoy coordinating events should think of running for this office. Experience or knowledge of PACs, people, and fundraising are helpful but not necessary

We are looking forward to receiving nominations from you and seeing you there!
