Ed Fallon for Gov? Know much about him?
Stumbled on his website today. I liked his positions. Never heard of him before. Can anyone fill me in?

1. Fallon suported Nader in 2000 over Gore pissing a lot
of party people off. Culver is getting a lot of the key party people behind him and has a lead. Fallon has a lot of strikes against him as a candidate: from DSM (though Culver is too), will have no money, party aparatus against him, very liberal. I don't see him doing over 10-15% in the primary.

2. Re: Ed Fallon
The best description I've heard about Ed Fallon is he could be the Howard Dean of Iowa: socially progressive, fiscally conservative. For example, he would rather see state money go to concerns such as in Atlantic, Iowa, that are trying to connect local food producers with local restaurants. He is very pro-small-business, and rejects attempts to pay off large corporations for locating in the state, or extorting the state for largesse by threatening to leave.

Here's his campaign website.

Pointblank, the Des Moines alternative weekly, did a very favorable story about him. They've taken it off their website, but I saved a copy for anyone who's interested. Just Email me.

5. agreed and that is why he would lose
Both guys are great but as far as putting a winner up there for all of Iowa, Fallon can't win. Plus, while things in the leg are looking up, there are more dems than reps up in both houses in 06 so a dem governor is crucial.

BTW, I'm not sure Culver can win either.

7. Do whatever you can so Jim Nussle doesn't win!
Not sure Iowa could take 4 years of his "leadership".

8. Fallon is executive director of 1000 Friends of Iowa
I saw letter to prospective members that explains their goals on their website. I think I just found who I will support (but I think it will be hard to beat Chet Culver if he runs).
