State Convention -- Shall we plan a get-together?

I'm excited to say that I met at least four DU members for the first time yesterday at the 2nd District Convention. Hi, y'all! :hi:

A few of us discussed the possibility of a DU get-together during the state convention in June. Anyone up for it? Ideas?

I think I'll have to be in Des Moines the day prior to and the day after the convention, but not sure yet. I'm not sure what the other committees are doing or what would be the best time for all of us to try to meet. Maybe we could have a DU lunch table?

I owe thanks to you and so many others. I was fine until the realization hit me that I really would have to make a speech, then I felt truly ill. I was pacing around the back of the room trying to get my head and stomach to stop spinning. Although Maggie said no one could tell I was so nervous, it's difficult to believe.

For all of you who were there, I want you to know that I understand winning the election is not doing the job. I'm looking forward to the challenge, will keep you updated and hope to do a good job of representing the 2nd District.

3. A du lunch table is a good idea but ...

Trying to get all folks there at one time will be a challenge. I am guessing they will have a cafeteria style set up like yesterday, so some will be done eating before others. I think it is an excellent idea if it can be pulled off.

This will be my first state convention, so I don't know when a good time to meet would be. I live close enough to Des Moines that I can make it easy, so just tell when and where and I should be there.

Maybe DUers should come up with an secret identifier. At the state level last time, the nametags were on a chain. Maybe a sticker on the nametag?

10. Heck yeah.

I was able to meet Ruralib and Cornfield on Saturday at the 2nd district convention, and of course Ms Maggie who I'd known previously. I really liked being able to put a face with the names and enjoyed our conversations!

I look forward to the state convention and think we HAVE to do SOMETHING as a group so that we can all finally truly "know" each other. Lunch sounds good, but don't be surprised if I come hunt each of you down before that and talk try to talk your ear off!

If you don't get a booklet or a postcard in the mail, let me know. I know of at least four people who are state delegates who are not going to be able to attend (because of Hog Wild Days & needing to make an appearance there).
