Petition to bring progressive radio to CR/IC area
Folks,
I have started a petition to bring progressive radio to a station in the Iowa City / Cedar Rapids area. This would include a listening area of Waterloo, Muscatine, Washington, Mount Pleasant, and possibly Marshalltown. You get the idea.
There is no set amount of signatures as a goal, but certainly the more the better. The plan is to target a radio station in the area that is suffering, which could be the beacon in a very liberal area. Clearchannel has changed many stations across the US to capture this audience. One of these is WKBF(1270) in Rock Island.
Please sign and tell your friends and family. The goal is to have a progressive station in the area by April. To do this we need signatures fast as it I am sure it will take some time for such a change to take place.
There is an election of great importance next year. We need a progressive station in the first and second district to compete with the multiple right wing stations that are already out there. This election we need to have the progressive view getting out also.
Please sign!

2. The answer is yes, but I would rather not say which one.
There is a certain Iowa City station that has changed format about 5 times in the last 5 years and from what I can garner has very low audience numbers. Iowa City is not listed as a market on radioandrecords.com so I can't tell what numbers they have for sure.

5. Signed it
even though I live and work in the Quads, I do travel to Iowa City and Cedar Rapids sometimes. Good luck and if you get it, it will be nice to listen up there. Oh, just fyi, WKBF is in Davenport. Just sayin'.

6. Great
I signed it. I posted the thread on how the AAR station in the Quad Cities was doing with the thought of starting a campaign on getting a station in CR/Iowa City or Des Moines area. I plan on sending this link to some people in the Central Iowa area. If you need help with anything let me know.

8. Done!
It would be great to finally have a good radio station to listen to. Not much out there right now.

9. Des Moines could use this too!
I no longer live in Iowa (but some day...), but still travel to Wright County to visit friends. It would be nice if there were some alternative to WHO in that part of the state. I cannot stomach Jan Mickelson!

10. had Mickelson on today for a laugh
he was running down public schools and essentially said that education should only go to those who deserve it. What can I say? The pukes are getting less and less ambiguous about what they want, more and more open. Sometimes I don't know whether to stay and fight or run to Canada.

11. Ahh, Mickelson...
I remember when he was saying the same thing about libraries--that people should have to buy books if they want to read. He got called on it, and sort of back-pedaled. Sort of. I never thought I'd say I miss that jerk, but he was good for a laugh.

I do miss Sonic--someone have an Orange Cream Slush for me!
