Franker and Leach now running head-to-head
Closest Congressional race in Midwest according to Political Oddsmaker

As of this publication, Campaigns and Elections Magazine (www.campaignline.com) lists Dave Franker as an underdog, but not by much.

In a recent turn of events, the closing 9-10 odds give Franker the best chance in the Midwest for a Democratic pick-up in the U.S. House of Representatives, according to the reported numbers. In other words, Leach is favored to win by only 52.6%.

The nationally-acclaimed analyst on the scene, Ron Faucheux (known popularly as "The Political Oddsmaker"), has a 98% accuracy record.

"I think these odds are a clear indication of just how vulnerable Jim Leach is in this district. A district that includes a candidate of Dave Franker’s caliber ought to go Democratic this fall," said David Loebsack, Professor of Political Science at Cornell College, upon hearing the news.

As Faucheux's numbers show, none of the Democrats running Congressional races in Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois or Indiana can boast of odds as optimistic as those for Franker.

Favored to win by 53.3%, John Hostettler (R) of Indiana is the second most vulnerable Midwestern Republican candidate. No other race even comes close.

This is Iowa's chance to gain a major victory for the Democratic Party, say key activists in the Second District.

He is an amazing unsung public servant who would be stellar in any public office. Counseling vets, volunteer preaching at a church in Letts Iowa because they lost their church. He goes and delivers a sermon to them when the church itself can't afford to keep it open. He doesn't get paid for this stuff folks he just does it. Think about what he could do for us if he were actually given the chance to work for changing government full time!

I remember Leach when he was in the First District, where I live and quite frankly, he was a pretty good Congressman. It was sad when he left, rather than try and fight Nussle, but after he did, he deserves to get defeated. I do not want to sound petty or argumentative, but Leach is a better Representative than Nussle by a long shot. I wish we had a person as good as either Leach or Franker here. Nussle absolutely sucks, he's done about one thing right, and his challenger, Bill Gluba has a few problems, imo. Yes indeed, Franker for Iowa second district.

Old Jimmy Nussle giving back part of his salary? He moved to washington dumped his wife and downs syndrome child that he used in his adds and never gave back a dime as far as I know. I think he said something about they wouldn't take it back at the general accounting offices? I have never had any problem writing a check. Some of them have hurt but if the pen doesn't work get a new one Jimmy boy!
