Saw this gem in the Quad Citiy Times the other day

I was at a coffee shop and was leafing through a copy of the QC Times that was sitting on the table when I came across this gem on the opinion page.

“Christian terrorism.” Putting these two words together is baseless and dangerous, akin to yelling “fire!” in a crowded theater where there is none.

Recent history has given us a clear definition of terrorism: the concerted effort to create terror by the wanton killing of innocent people to advance a cause. Sept. 11 is a vivid example as is the 2008 attacks in Mumbai, India. Beyond these dramatic cases, there are regular news reports of suicide bombings and car bombings. That is terrorism. None of it is done by Christians.

Terrorism is contrary to Jesus’ teaching and is not planned by clandestine Christian cells. On occasion a rogue individual who claims a connection to Christianity commits a crime. To link these aberrant evil acts to concerted efforts is not only unfounded, but dangerous. It creates groundless fear and misunderstanding which ultimately leads to mistreatment.

I suppose in the author's book that's what Oklahoma City was: a crime by a rouge individual and not a terrorist act. He was probably pretty damn quick to label Ft. Hood a terrorist act but probably called Dr. Tiller's assassination the act of a rouge individual.

And you can't get through that kind of cognitive dissonance. I put those people in the "lost cause" category.

...just about every right wing extremist group in this country is following a twisted version of Christianity, or that the SPLC collects plenty of information on said extremists.

2. I read it twice

Thought maybe I missed something the first time. Nope. Nothing missed. It just proves that we still have complete dumbasses in our area. And that's sad.

4. Funny. I believe our current health care non-system is a form

of corporate terrorism. I am sure most of those defending this system profess undying allegiance to Jesus Christ.
The Republican Party representatives in congress are the most public of these. As far as I know only one is not a Christian.
I am sure the boardrooms of the health insurance industries are also filled with believers, although Jesus may be second to the dollar.

If you think that our current non-system is not a form of terrorism, let us look at the LTTE writer's own definition and see how it fits:

'concerted effort'{check}, 'wanton killing'{check 45,000 a year or more}, 'advance a cause' {big checkerooni on that}. I would even add 'by creating fear of potential harm'
Maybe we should launch a war on our medical care system?
