An insider told me part of Culver's strange hesitancy
about signing the new labor bill into law is because he relies heavily on his staff. And I would bet that his young staff (recent college grads) are NOT from working class families and consequently do NOT comprehend the importance of unions and bargaining. And of course Culver is from a privileged background himself. This is also a problem in journalism and has led to the superficial character of most of the MSM.
I didn't initially respond to your post b/c I was pretty sure that John C. Culver had one hell of a positive record with Labor. I asked Mr. Debi and he confirmed it. I hope the Messrs Culver are discussing this issue .
Although our household financies pale in comparison to the Culver's our son has not been w/out during his lifetime. Yet he knows that supporting Labor is not debatable. Livable wages and working conditions for employees are a must in a business environment. (and a must for a workable society)
And obviously the ability to negotiate.
I had the pleasure of sitting w/a wonderful State Senator Saturday night and he made his poistion clear. "Why should we not allow police officers to negotiate for adequate bullet proof vests?" Makes sense to me!
