Charter One Bank is going to dye the River green this year for the Paddy's Day Parade. They won the bid on E-bay for like $7,500.

Damn, I always thought a bunch of the union plumbers got together, had a few beers and poured the dye in the River on the morning of the parade.

I thought it blew the big one when Richie changed the date of the Parade from actual St. Paddy's Day to the Saturday before, but once again another Chicago tradition goes down the tubes...

2. When I was a kid my mother always sent me downtown with my

Dad on the day of the parade. We always had St. Patrick's Day off at our grammar school.

Her reasoning behind this was because Daddy would never bring us kids into a bar. He was a precinct captain in the 18th Ward Regular Democrats and they always marched in the parade.

Our parish always had a corned beef and cabbage dinner in the parish hall every year the night of Paddy's Day and since Mom & Dad didn't get out too much, this was one night she looked forward to and she didn't want my father coming home "three sheets to the wind".
