She won her race with 65% of the vote and more importantly by almost 90,000 votes. To defeat Judy, her opponent will have to get at least 45,000 voters to move to their column. In 2006, Blago (or any other Democrat outside of our Senators) for Governor probably won't provide the greatest coattails.
That being said, I've read that Biggert has gone on the record as supporting the President's Social Security reform. If you look at Judy's website:
http://judybiggert.house.gov/ You will see a poll about what people want to see accomplished. While it's highly unscientific, 41% want the budget to be balanced. I would say that it' fair to say that her district is full of moderate Republicans who believe in fiscal responsibility. I don't think she does herself any favor by tying herself to the Bush administration.
Any else have thoughts on the matter? I'm sure other people here have a better grasp on Judy's district than I do.
