How are we going to get a new US Senator?
Doe anyone trust Blag right now to appoint one? ANYONE? Durbin is suggesting a special election but how does that work...ie, the Republicans putting in their own candidates. The candidate should be a Democrat, IMHO.

1. I think the Durbin plan, if workable, is the best idea.
And I don't think we'd have any problem winning, especially if Obama made an appearance.

2.  I don't know, When everyone reads these charges
and it sinks in how corrupt the top Democrat is, they may vote for a GOP candidate.

What if Blag appoints himself to the Senate seat now. The whole thing is toxic now!!!!

3. He can't. The senate would block it.
Blagojevich is done. Anything he tries to do now will be stopped.

The fact is that allowing an election will give the new senator instant credibility and detachment from the Blagojevich administration. To me, it's worth it.

4. Sounds like a Special Election is in the works.
From Capitol Fax Blog

PRESIDENT JONES TO RECONVENE SENATE TO PASS LEGISLATION CREATING SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL THE U. S. SENATE SEAT

CHICAGO, Illinois – “The events this morning are shocking. The faith of the citizens of Illinois has once again been shaken. I will call the Senate back in to session to pass legislation that would create a special election for the U. S. Senate seat to help restore the confidence of the people of Illinois during this difficult time.”

5. And because of this maroon
the junior senator spot would be open to both/all parties if there is a special election. There goes the opportunity to keep it Dem or even held by a black.

Shit.

6. I'd still like someone to explain how this POS won the primary.
I was fairly recently returned to the state when that happened, but no one I knew had a good thing to say about him. Still, he got the nomination. And won the General.

How the hell?

8. I'm afraid mark kirk is gonna be our next senator. People really are stupid
enough to believe he is a moderate. People are gonna want a republican this time.
