Alan Keyes on gun control
Heard on the radio 780AM today that machine guns are acceptable for private citizens. He used the example of Israel. Citizens there take home their army issue weapons, that commonly these are machine guns and if acceptable there, why not here. He then mentioned he has two guns for personal use.

3. And Keyes drops another 5 points in the polls.
He just doesn't care whether he wins at this point, it seems to me. Just biding his time until November.

9. He NEVER cared ...

The Illinois senate race isn't Keyes vs Obama. It's BUSH vs Obama. They're using the Illinois race as an indirect way to bash Kerry.

5. Keyes is a "house nigger" for the Republican Party, one of several
They exploit his odd religious views and like so many ticks and parasites of that failed party, he's found his vein to tap into to survive. Good for him, bad for all of us.

It is not just Keyes, however, the Illinois Republican party is in disarray. A reflection of what is coming at the national level. From George Ryan to Jack Ryan and all the wasted hopefuls up to Keyes. It's better than Comedy Central right now! LOL!

7. I assume that Israel is like Switzerland
where army issue weapons are kept at home--and if you fire them without authorization, you are court martialed and put in prison for three years, or if you lose them, you are court martialed, or of you use them in the commission of a crime, you are court martialed, or if you lend them to someone, you are court martialed, or if they are stolen, you are court martialed. Heck, if we had THAT sort of gun control, the kind of control you get from putting all the owners under military command, I wouldn't mind guns in homes either.

Keyes fires at Obama on gun control vote

August 24, 2004 — Gun control is now an issue in the race for the U.S. Senate. Republican candidate Alan Keyes said this afternoon that Barack Obama-- his democratic opponent -- wants to make America safer for criminals instead of the average American.

ABC7 Video Clip

Barak Obama is on vacation this week but the campaign goes on. His no vote in the state senate in May on a controversial gun owner's rights bill is drawing heavy fire today from Alan keys who says gun ownership is a right guaranteed by the constitution. Guns are no more dangerous than cars and America would probably be safer if more people walked around carrying Uzis like they do in Israel.

"You walk around the streets of Israel and you see every other person carrying arms and Uzis and so forth and believe me, you do not feel less safe on that account," said Alan Keyes, (R) U.S. Senate candidate.

Alan Keyes says the country would be a lot safer if every properly-trained, law-abiding American adult had the right to own and carry any kind of gun instead of being limited by gun control advocates like Barack Obama.

"The accusation that Alan Keyes would arm the whole world is not I think nearly as damning as the truth that Barack Obama would only arm half the world. The criminal half. I frankly find this prospect to be hell itself," said Keyes.

Last February the owner of this home in suburban Wilmette, which has a ban on handguns, was charged with violating the ordinance after shooting an alleged burglar. The state legislature quickly passed a bill making it easier for gun owners like Hale Demar to avoid prosecution on local gun bans if they were acting in self defense. But Obama voted no the bill, which was sponsored by a former prosecutor.

"Once again, Barack Obama demonstrated for all the world exactly what he is. A liberal. A very liberal democrat," said State Sen. Ed Petka, (R) Plainfield.

The Obama campaign director released a statement: "This vote was an attempt to override the right of individual communities to enact their own laws as Wilmette did in 1989. Barack Obama has worked tirelessly to protect Illinois communities while recognizing the legitimate rights of sportsmen, which is why the 36,000 law enforcement officials of the Illinois Fraternal Order Of Police endorsed his candidacy."

"This seems to be a man who is absolutely determined to make the world safe for criminals while making sure that law-abiding citizens have no opportunity to defend themselves ," said Keyes.

Keyes said gun control advocates like Barack Obama are making this country less safe. He says violence in the inner city is because of people with blood in their hearts not guns in their hands. He said Americans showered be as comfortable with guns as with cars which can also be dangerous if people aren't properly trained and tested. One thing about Alan Keyes, you know exactly where he stands whether you agree or not.

10. Alan Keyes has tagged himself into an extremist hole . . .
from which he cannot extract himself due to the nature of his own extremism.

Keyes is on the fringe of the fringe elements in politics where hardly no one resides. For example, no laws infringing individual "right to bear arms." Hey, does that mean no explosives? No machine guns? No assault arms/guns/rifles? Keyes cannot extract himself from this hole, for to do so would mean to retract his second amendment stance.

Across the political board, his stance remains on the ultra-fringe of political thought. So much so that Keyes mental capacity should be of issue as he sauntered into Illinois after decrying Hillary Rodham Clinton as a "carbet bagger" for her move into NY to run for the senate!

14. Some information on Israeli Gun control
...from, of all places, the NRA:

http://www.nraila.org/Issues/Articles/Read.aspx?ID=72

Israeli law requires that a person have a license in order to own any kind of firearm, but the license is readily available to any law-abiding adult who can show he or she has had firearms training. (Israel has universal military training for Jews of both sexes). And if you legally possess a gun, Israel allows--indeed encourages--carrying it. In effect, Israeli law nearly parallels that of Florida, Pennsylvania and 28 other U.S. states where licenses to carry a concealed firearm are available on application and passing a background check. (Vermonters have the right to carry without obtaining a license).

-snip-

Israelis going to a dangerous area routinely stop by a police station or communal armory to pick up an Uzi or a pistol. Israeli policy is that armed guardians should be near every place there are potential victims. Schools may not send children on field trips unless the children are accompanied by at least one teacher or parent carrying a gun.

Israel is country where licensing is required, and where guns are NOT 'taken home', but kept in government armories.

You know, as a gun control advocate, I'd be pretty happy with a system like that...

...and I think most 2nd amendment types would, oh, blow up an office building over....
