Virginia still hates Lincoln

Seriously, what is wrong with the Virginia legislature? I guess they would rather celebrate their Southern "heritage" of slavery and treason against America.

RICHMOND, Va. - Virginia lawmakers meeting on the grounds of the former Confederate Capitol killed legislation creating a commission to oversee the state's participation in the national commemoration of the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth.

1. Doesnt surprise me!

I helped chaperone an eigth grade field trip to DC when my son graduated. oh, about five years ago. Toured the Gettysburg battlefield. A tour guide was provided by the park service.

So here we are going thru one of the bloodiest encounters of the Civil War with a busload of Illinois, the Land of Lincoln, schoolchildren and the tour guide tells us she is from Virginia and starts rah rah rahhing Virginia's role in the confederacy! As I recall, no one spoke or asked questions, I know I was caught off guard. I dont think that is the way the Civil War and Lincoln are remembered in Illinois classrooms.

I've got this to say to the Southern "states rights" supporters - The Civil War is over. You lost. GET OVER IT. No, you cannot legally enslave another human being anymore. GET OVER IT. I will get over the Supreme Court giving the election to Bush if you get over YOU LOST.
