Idaho students could have to pay more in college loans if Congress passes a measure aimed to cut spending Wednesday. Tammy Scardino has reaction from local students.

As you can imagine, they're not too thrilled with the idea. Still, the legislation that proposes a $12.7-billion cut in student financial aid is being pushed by the White House and Congressional Republican leaders.

It is the largest proposed student loan aid cut in American history. Idaho State University freshman Tavia Baldwin has already accrued $3,000 in student loan debt. She says the thought of having to pay back loans at a higher fixed rate is discouraging.

"It's kind of daunting. It's not a pretty picture. My chosen field is not gonna be one that pays a lot."

Jared Pugmire says the government is making it more difficult for him to advance in life.
