Dolphin on metro
Did anyone else see the person wearing the plush blue and white dolphin costume Thursday morning (October 20th, 2005)? I was on an Orange line metro. Dolphin got on at either Eastern Market or Capitol South and got off at Federal Center Southwest. It was a perfect DC vs. NYC commuting moment. In NYC, where I learned to commute, nobody would have approached Dolphin. Here is DC a young high school girl went up to Dolphin to talk and to read the badge around its neck. It was great. Dolphin mimed that he didn't know the answers to her questions. When Dolphin first got on, I smiled in appreciation and Dolphin waved to me. After Dolphin departed the train we all laughed a bit and agreed that it had taken great chutzpah on the part of the person in the costume to get on the Metro.
