Hawaii People - Yuck, look who is running for Ed Case's Congressional Seat
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 11:01 PM by Quetzal
None other than the homophobe Mike Gabbard.

I doubt that he will beat Ed Case, but he his caustic language will once again split families, encourage hate, and leave a scorched earth campaign trail. Our best bet will be to tie him to the anti-environmental, anti-labor policies of the Bush administration. That way, he will most definetly lose.

There are some issues I disagree with Ed Case on, but I would rather have him in office than this wingnut.

For those of you who don't know who Mike Gabbard is, he is the one that led the anti-gay marriage crusade during the 1990s here. He will probably center his entire campaign around the whole gay marriage issue and will hardly talk about jobs, health care, and the environment.

How do I know? Just look at his website which highlights the differences between him and Ed Case.

On Edit: Fricking Wayne Nishiki endorsed the bigot!!!

2. I think he spent at least a million dollars of
his own money to pay for "defense of marriage" ads back in 2000.

3. Well I hope this scares people into sending $ to Case.
I think I'll have to send him a few bucks this cycle.

He's lucky that Howard Dean made $100 contributions no big deal for me. First time I donated $50 to Case (my first contributions ever!) it felt a little painful. After my Dean experience, it's nothing.

4. Gabbard ahead of Case in funding...
link here:
http://starbulletin.com/2004/04/22/news/story7.html

<snip>
Gabbard's report filed with the Federal Election Commission shows that he has raised $107,349 and has almost $105,000 in cash on hand. In comparison, Case raised $14,211 during the same period and has a total of $37,653 available.
<end>

the repukes have really targeted taking over our state and turning it into repuke heaven... ever since Lingle was elected, she hasn't stopped campaigning.

<snip>
Case said he has been busy in Congress but plans to devote more time to raising money for his re-election. "I have clearly committed the unpardonable sin of focusing exclusively on doing my job in Congress instead of fund raising," Case said.
<end>

"unpardonable sin"?... Gabbard's gonna use that in ALL his advertising now..!! I can see it now.. "Case commits unpardonable sin!! ... Case an unpardonable sinner!! The Honolulu Advertiser and The Maui News will just eat it up..

plus Gabbard's daughter... a DINO perhaps?

<snip>
Also contributing to Gabbard's current campaign was his daughter, state Rep. Tulsi Gabbard Tamayo, a Democrat representing Waipahu and Ewa. Gabbard Tamayo gave her father $2,000 last month. She also made a $250 donation last year to the state Republican Party...
..."Last week, I told my legislative colleagues that I will be contributing $250 to the Democratic Party to nullify whatever advantage my $250 gave to the Republicans," Gabbard Tamayo said...
...Democratic Party Chairman Alex Santiago said he did not know about the contribution and that he would talk to Gabbard Tamayo about it.
"It is not the kind of behavior we Democrats like to see from our elected officials," Santiago said about the contribution.
<end>

...she needs to donate $2,000.00 to Ed Case to "nullify whatever advantage her $2,000.00 she donated to her father"..., don't ya think?

5. Actually Lingle (R-Vacuum Bag) has been campaigning nonstop since '98
Four years as state repuke party chair will do your head absolutely no good at all. She went from clueless small-town (county) mayor to close confidante of Karen Hughes :puke:

"It is not the kind of behavior we Democrats like to see from our elected officials," Santiago said about the contribution.

Our elected officials?! That woman is Zell Miller in rubbah slippahs, for Pete's sake! We have lots of DINOs who register Dem just because it'll help 'em get elected (see under Hannemann, Mufi)

As for fundraising, remember how much mainland money came in to Lingle? Guess what? Ed Case's cousin is Steve Case -- yes, that Steve Case -- who, while basically a repuke, supports his cousin's political ambitions. So, don't be surprised to see some $$$ coming in to (Ed) Case from Northern Va. and the New York area.

8. Aloha! I was just in Hawaii....
and read in the local paper about Repig Gov Lingle. Her approval rating is down to 40%. She doesn't know what the hell she's doing. The Democrats in Hawaii are getting their groove again, after people have experienced republican destruction of Hawaii.

Aloha from Arizona!

10. Gabbard is going to try and pull his support from the Neighbor Islands
and Kapolei. That is my feeling.

Anyhow, if one of his supporters shows up at my door, I'm just going to hound on them about how horrible Gabbard is.

Honestly, I think Case is going to win. However, there is no doubt in my mind that Gabbard will put up a fight. *sigh* It will be 1998 all over again - and it is not going to look pretty,
