1. I'd ask your hotel about a transportation option
or ask someone in Beaufort to pick you up. Most of the cabs at the airport are based in Savannah, and they want to charge a fortune for a ride to Beaufort or Hilton Head. I think that it's ridiculous that they call the airport the Savannah-Hilton Head Airport. It's the Savannah Airport and the name chage was an attempt to lure business away from Charleston. It's about a 30-45 minute drive to Beafort from the airport.
Sorry that I could not be of greater help.

3. I'd rent a car or get someone to pick you up. Hire a driver or a limo.
I often drive from Athens, GA to Beaufort, SC. There is no fast way to "get there from here" along the coast due to the topography and the waterways. You'll still need a way to get around Beaufort unless you are staying right downtown in the historic district. Most of the hotels are a mile or so away from downtown and the bay front-marina area.

Beaufort is one of my favorite towns! Have fun!
