Bill Shipp: Jim Butler may challenge Sen. Saxby Chambliss

Did anybody else catch this? It was just a one-line note at the end of Bill Shipp's Sunday column about the increasing loss of Georgia's marshes to development. I once believed Chambliss was invincible, but now that Democrats control the Senate agriculture committee, big ag gains nothing by supporting Chambliss. If Senate Democrats play their cards right, Chambliss could be vulnerable in 2008.

1. Chambliss is strong in GA ONLY because he is a Republican
...otherwise he is lightweight in the Senate. The "right" Democrat could knock him off. Look for a moderate like Roy Barnes or a conservative Dem like Congressman Jim Marshall to test the waters.
