On Election Day. When requested by the Supervisor of Elections, the head of Leon County Public Works, Tony Parks, refused to move their crews or provide flag men to ensure people could get to the polling location.
They could have chosen to pave that short section of road another day last week or made sure that flag men were present to make sure traffic could flow freely. Our volunteer that reported it had to drive down an alley behind the store across the street, then cross the road in order to get into their voting location. Video of the situation is posted at
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-137676 The two videos are really continuous showing that the road was cut to a single lane and no one was directing traffic. In the second video, the man in the reflector vest that is briefly shown was not directly traffic - he came out to talk to the person shooting the video.
Later in the day, the trucks were further down the road, and a Leon County Sheriff's car was parked at the entrance to the polling place with its lights flashing - another form of voter intimidation? Or an effort to indicate that the polling location was open?
