Fracking on its way to New Jersey, New York and Delaware?

With very little public attention, and no public discussion that I have been aware of, there is going to be a vote in Trenton, NJ on Monday on whether to allow fracking in the Delaware River Basin. Four states would be affected: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The body that will be voting is the Delaware River Basin Commission. Fracking is already taking place in Pennsylvania. So I suppose that means their approval is understood. A rally is planned for Monday.

If two states approve and two decline, the Obama administration will break the tie.

Of course I'm going to call Gov. Christie and the White House. But I am astonished that they are seriously considering fracking in this area, and that I hadn't heard peep about it. Of course, I no longer watch much news or read the newspaper, so it could be my fault entirely.

I've lost the piece of paper she gave me. I found this link, which provides information on getting a bus ride to the rally, and asks for help from volunteers:

Anyone from those states that is interested, please call your governor's office and the White House.

The upcoming meeting which would've voted on regs allowing fracking in the Delaware River Basin has been cancelled. Looks like DE, NY and the WH saved the day!! The full Josh Fox announcement can be found at http://savethedelaware.wordpress.com / :

"VICTORY!!!!!! DRBC VOTE CANCELLED! Stay tuned for next steps. Another announcement in the morning.

DRBC VOTE CANCELLED!

YOU DID IT. YOU WON.

All of your calls. All of your emails. Your pledges to swarm the DRBC in Trenton on November 21st.

All of your pressure and all of your strength.

You stopped fracking in the Delaware River Basin for now. You won this round. It is not a complete victory but it is a huge victory. You brought us back from the brink of total devastation.

What cancellation means: The DRBC doesnt hold a meeting to vote down their regulations. Ive only ever seen them vote to approve things. Which means they cancel the meeting if they no longer have 3 out of 5 commissioners voting in favor of fracking. Which is exactly what they have done. They dont cancel meetings often, let alone votes. Your voice made a tremendous difference. I am humbled, proud and beyond thankful."
