Dead Horse Resurrected. Repukes Attempt to rebeat - Colorado redistricting

challenge has been re-opened up by the Supreme Court.. Would the fucking Repukes please QUIT already? It's a dead issue, and somehow they've decided to dig up the dead horse and beat it some more.

Here's the blurb: (Not LBN, because it's dated Feb 21st)

WASHINGTON — A U.S. Supreme Court decision today allows the fight over Colorado's congressional district map to go back to a federal district court.

Justices ruled that a three-judge panel erred last year when it tossed out a Republican-backed lawsuit challenging the map drawn by Democrats and approved by a judge in 2002.

The decision does not change the map, but it puts the ultimate shape of Colorado's seven congressional districts in limbo in the middle of an election year.

---

My opinion? I don't think so. The judge did NOT err when they made the decision. The law clearly says that the redestricting can OCCUR every 10 years, not every day, every month, every year, not even every 2 years either.

Hell, if I was the Dems in legislation, right now, I'd pass a PERMANENT and MANDATORY (and even send it to the voters for consideration to be in included in the Colorado Constitution) 10 year redistricting starting in 2010. If the Repukes aren't in power (which I doubt they will be) in 2010, tough titties.

1. What happens now?
Does anyone know what happens now? It wasn't clear from the DP or RMN articles. It seems like it should now go to the legislature, which would mean that the Democrats could just pass the current district map. But I don't think the Repugs would have pursued the lawsuit if that was the case -- will it revert to their redistricting plan?
