CA assembly speaker calls Arnold's budget product of right wing think tank
Finally, a elected Democrat in California who gets it.

Arnold is doing to California what Bush is doing to the nation as a whole.

Ironically, in response to Nunez' charges, Arnold parrots the lines of right wing guru Grover Norquist who said he would like to "starve the beast" of government by reducing taxes so that it was weak enough to drown in the bathtub.

This makes Arnold look like exactly what he is: a puppet for the far right's economic ideas with a veneer of Californian cultural positions.

Statewide democrats MUST continue this tone if they want to get Arnold out of office and stigmatize him to the point that he won't run for senate.

Send this Nunez guy an email or letter thanking him for actually representing us:

KEY EXCERPTS:

Setting the stage for a bruising budget fight this year, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez called the governor's proposed spending plan an "attack on middle class values" that was built on ideas from "right wing think tanks."

Nunez, D-Los Angeles, told reporters Thursday at a Capitol news conference that the Legislature's Democratic majority would offer their own budget plan in the coming months that he said would better protect the state's priorities - especially education.

"I will not support a budget that starves Californians of the services they depend on and the services that make us a first-class state," Nunez said.

Schwarzenegger dismissed the notion of raising taxes in a meeting on Tuesday and instead said lawmakers should concentrate on "starving the public sector" and avoid feeding "the monster" of government.
