Did the law enforcement community lie about 3 strikes?
If so, how can we trust them to tell the truth in court?

How can I get the facts on who would be released if it had passed?

1. This will take care of itself. They are rapidly running out of money
to warehouse these prisoners. The California legislators will quietly affect this anyway.

3. Sorry
But, Ill trust the bipartisan support of all the democrats and republicans who came out against Prop 66.

Read the law. It would have made many serious crimes unable to be used as a third offense. These folks would have been resentenced and release for time served.

4. "trust them to tell the truth in court"
Obviously you haven't spent too much time in the courtroom. Cops are experts @ lying without getting caught.

5. They absolulutely lied
when they said anyone would be released at all

The law allowed for certain people to apply for re-sentencing hearings, noone would be automatically released

scare tactics that worked, sad isn't it

6. You and they are both correct...
All of these folks would apply for re-sentencing hearings. And since many have already spent more time in jail than they would have to under the new law (if Prop 66 had passed), they would be released.

It is very simple.

Second, the fact that many serious crimes would no longer be applicable for three strikes sentencing would have been a travesty.

9. It really doesn't matter that much.
If any of the posters here know anyone who has been convicted of two felonies; tell them to think really hard before stepping over the line again.

He's pretty reliable. When I heard he was against it; I voted against it.

14. NO ONE will be released. Just read the prop.
Those who are not in for violent felonies will get a re-hearing to see if they should be released.
