City Owned Utilities in Central Valley is Possible
Saturday, April 10
3:30-5 p.m.
The Central Valley Progressive PAC meeting will feature a presentation by Mark Toney, Executive Director of TURN*, speaking on why Proposition 16 (which would make it more difficult for local governments to establish local utility districts) needs to be defeated. The CVPPAC, wanted this to be a debate, but could not find a spokesperson willing to speak in favor of prop 16. While PG&E, the primary backer of prop 16, is willing to spend millions of our dollars to pass this initiative, it is reveling that nobody could be found to participate in this public debate. Find out what the YES ON 16 campaign does NOT want you to know about. Come to this important presentation, which will be held at the Fresno Center for Nonviolence, 1584 N. Van Ness Ave., Fresno.

*TURN, The Utility Reform Network is a statewide organization of 20,000 members that fights for the right of consumers to have the cleanest energy and highest quality phone service at the lowest prices possible. TURN is leading several statewide campaigns, including fighting PG&E $4 billion proposal to increase rates by 30%, preserving affordable flat rate LifeLine phone programs, organizing support for a installation freeze on Smart Meters until the independent investigation is complete, and building opposition to PG&E-funded Prop 16.
