Dear Editor

I want a governor who is honest and dedicated to the public welfare. Angelides has demonstrated that he is a hard-working advocate for the people. He doesn't have any political consultants - his campaign doesn't spend money on packaging him as a product. He says what he's going to do - he's got a lot of plans for improving education and the environment and and it's going to take money to pay for those plans. He's candid about that - but he also plans to tax the very wealthy and the corporations first to pay for those plans.

Maybe that's why the Hearst newspaper is opposed to Angelides. But if so, they are abandoning the public trust to protect their own self-interest.

I strongly urge this paper to stop the partisan hackery and simply report the facts on the Angelides and Westly campaign.
When this paper ignores serious charges raised against Westly, charges that could result in future legal problems which would be embarrassing to the state if he were governor and instead focuses on whether or not the Angelides campaign merely called Cari's office, that's not news, that's gotcha journalism. And that's hurting California.

1. According to the Predatorial Page, homelessness is down 38%

in San Francisco and Bruce McPherson is just a mild mannered moderate.

Maybe they went to satire and I didn't notice.

2. I called them today

and asked them to stop posting their editorials on the front page. I also asked them when they were going to count their free advertising for the westly campaign as a campaign contribution.

3. How can we market them as fishwrap?

I'd like to send flyers to fish markets with their number on it. Or, just post "FISH WRAP! signs about all their vending machines.

4. I mourn the demise of the old Chronicle every day

I used to marvel at the amazing stories and the columnists - I couldn't believe how one paper could assemble so many good writers under its roof. Now the paper is far to the right of where the old Examiner even used to be and the new reporters are just partisan hacks in the Faux style of journalism. Any of the old reporters left except Lazarus have been assimilated. Only Jon Carroll and David Lazarus save the paper from utter contempt in my book.
