Arnold's selling more than his agenda
Edited on Wed May-25-05 09:19 AM by realFedUp
A Scoop On Top
By Carmen Balber

A deeper look into Arnold's overt product placement of Pepsi and Arrowhead in his political ad reveals more big bucks from sugar daddy Nestle. Nestle, which owns Arrowhead, also owns Dreyer's Ice Cream. The dessert company and its executives gave the governor a total of $228,600.

Watch the TV ad yourself (http://www.JoinArnold.com) and see if Arnold isn't selling more than a political agenda.

Arrowhead's Water Boy
By Carmen Balber

An eagle-eyed ArnoldWatch tipster discovered some subliminal messaging in the Gov's latest TV ad blitz. Well, he didn‚t need 20-20 vision to catch this one.

The ad features Arnold in a lunchroom talking to a table-full of attentive Californians. Pepsi-Cola, Arrowhead Water and Dr. Pepper are given prominent placement next to the Gov. -- for 1/3 of the 30-second ad. If you've ever eaten a snack chip, you'll likely recognize Ruffles, Sun Chips and Cheetos in the background. And a SoBe Beverage makes a cameo appearance.

Pepsi-Cola (which just happens to own SoBe, Sun Chips, Ruffles and Cheetos) has given the Gov's campaign committees $30,000. Joe Weller, Chairman & CEO of Arrowhead's parent company, Nestle USA, gave the maximum $21,200 to Arnold's re-election committee.

We've all read reports of the advance teams that precede Arnold everywhere he goes, and make sure everything from the Boeing jet to the American flag-waving baby are in the correct position. Would California's king of celluloid let an inch of screen or a second of a shot be wasted? If there's product placement in an Arnold ad, it's planned.

ArnoldWatch has already taken the Gov to task for guest appearances he seems to make at the behest of donors (See weblogs: http://www.arnoldwatch.org/blogs/blogs_000234.php3 and http://www.arnoldwatch.org/blogs/blogs_000028.php3 ) Even if Arnold thinks its okay to "sell" California, he shouldn't sell Californians out by using his office to hawk junk food or even bottled water. Campaign donors are not supposed to get anything in return, right? Well, Arrowhead's waterboy should come clean about these product placements and stop the marketing madness. A Governor who says he wants to get junk foods out of the schools should be willing to take them out of his political ads.

3. He's NOT an American!!
I hope I don't get flamed for this - but I have known several Europeans who have moved to the U.S. and become citizens. Many do not seem to grasp that this country is based on individual freedoms - the bill of rights. Most of the ex-Europeans came here for one reason - greed. (FYI - I am of European decent.) They see the U.S. as a great place to make money - that was the attraction. Not the right to live the life you choose and not be required to follow a certain religion or go along with everything your government does. Frankly - they don't get that at all. Also - those same Europeans (from Scotland, France, etc.) were extra-conservative Republicans who hate paying taxes and think the Democrats will turn the U.S. into a "socialist" country like France. I lived in Europe for 2 years in the 1990's, and I felt the bill of rights was a very foreign concept that was difficult to grasp for some Europeans. To me - the best thing (maybe ONLY good thing) about the U.S. is the bill of rights. That is what makes our country unique - and that is what allows the greatness of the individual to shine in this country.

I think after WWII - the U.S. attracted a different type of immigrant. The U.S. was such a rich country compared to the rest of the world in the 1950's, 60's and 70's, that we got some very greedy types coming over here. Not already rich greedy types - lower middle class greedy types who wanted to become very rich. Before that it was mostly poor people who just wanted a chance at a decent life. Life as an immigrant was very tough, but worth it for the chance at a better life. After working with all these super-conservative immigrants - I've gotten a little prejudiced. Very often they are mildly racist and have a strong distaste for immigrants who come from Mexico and Latin America. As Europeans - they think they are more "American" than Mexican immigrants. That's just my very limited experience - and I may be completely wrong - but Arnold seems to be to be so transparently greedy he fits this mold.

7. I knew an English woman who wanted just that.
She only wanted to come over here and make money but God forbid she give up her English citizenship. She blew all her money on cocaine and was on the street selling herself for more drugs. She had nothing but contempt for Americans, thinking she was such a blueblood.

5. This is astounding.
I would never have believed that greed could go that far. What a jerk. He and Bush are both just commercial products.

Still a little speechless over this...
