It's been FOREVER since a governor has actually shown up at the UAA/UAF Governor's Cup to present the trophy.. Palin (a hockey fan) evidently cut a trip short out in the bush to get to the Sullivan Arena on time...

1. So far, she hasn't done anything that's upset me too much...

Maybe she'll be okay. I was kind of pleased with her stance on the gay benefits issue -- even though she doesn't agree with it, she didn't argue with the Supremes, unlike Coghill and some of those other idiots. Maybe she's sincere about her reverence for the Constitution.

2. I don't agree with Palin in this one..

I agree with what Shannon and Senator Hollis French said on KUDO radio this morning.

They said she could have had (and she knows it) a scientific poll conducted for $5,000 to see where Alaskans stand on the issue if she didn't... which she obviously doesn't... have the guts to take her own stance on it.

Instead, she'll spend something like 1.4 million putting it on the ballot...

Personally, I think she was just too chicken shit to take a stance.. She's too paranoid she'll have to make a decision that will end her honeymoon period.

Shannon said for the amount we'll pay to have this on the ballot, Palin could have sent the 37 people affected by it on a cruise around the world..

In my opinion, Palin gets two thumbs down for not having the GUTS to make this decision herself.

She did manage to piss off her base, though, based on letters to the editor this morning.

What I don't understand is the hatefulness of the people who want to oppose the Supremes on this. It's not like it's going to cost the state a bunch of money to provide the benefits because I doubt that there are that many same-sex couples who work for the state anyway. I guess the city's been doing it for a while and nobody gives a care.

I just don't get this hatred of gay people.
