Tell me what you think...

There is a bill under consideration that would establish up to 10 card rooms in Anchorage.

While proposal details are unclear, in other states card rooms are commercial gambling establishments that serve food and alcohol, and provide tables for betting games such as poker, pinochle, or cribbage.

Wager minimums and maximums are set for each game; participants are charged either per hand, per half hour of play or through a percentage of the winning pots. The operators would have to pay the state $25,000 to apply and then $10,000 per table to operate such an establishment.

Would you support or oppose such a proposal?

If the bill contained a provision that let local communities decide wether to allow these establishments by a vote of the people, would that change your position?

Please send me your thoughts by replying to this message, or by sending a new one to: [email protected]

Thanks,

Hollis French
Alaska State Senator
District M - Anchorage
